When you have Travelled 30 or 40 countries there are new countries you want to Travel to and which get added to the list, inspired from places already visited. There are though also places one wishes to return to, to meet up again with old friends and to sometimes to eat a food, visit an attraction that one has already seen but must see or try again. Below 10 place I must return to.
1. Sicily, Italy " having gone to Sicily on Honeymoon and walked around the old crater on the Etna volcano and then spending the afternoon on the beach, this is a great place for a few days. Great history and great food. I love going back to the fish market in the city centre when I am there and the daily market nearby is also a delight. Taormina about an hours drive away is also a fantastic location and always worth returning to.
2. Beijing, China " is just a place which is simply unique and because it was the first place I ever visited in Asia, this city and country always hold a fascination. Food is always important to me and just like Sicily, China is another great place for the food lover. Despite the language, it was also possibly to create some string friendships which have to be followed up.
3. New York City, USA " is a city which I would be happy to visit every year if I could only ever go to one place. NYC is the museum capital of the world and in the summertime, jogging or rollerblading through Central Park is a great way to relax and the atmosphere great. With a wide choice of jazz, classical and theatre I can easily pass a few weeks in this city when my credit card can withstand the pressure.
4. Barcelona, Spain " is a city where having spent a few years, I have many friends and this city is perfect for a short or long break. With a combination of the beach, tapas, the normally great weather and plenty of Gaudi sites to revisit, I love this city.
5. Maui, Hawaii " Budget makes revisiting Hawaii burdensome and difficult. If it were not for money then Hawaii would be number 1 on my places I would revisit. I will never get bored with the scenery, the beaches, the volcanoes, people and culture of Hawaii. This is the closest place I have found to paradise and if you have not been there it is worth saving to do so.
